If you’re from Texas, you already know that Luckenbach, Texas is THE place to be for listening to great music in a good ol’ Texas Hill Country atmosphere! Well, this coming 4th of July, the world famous Luckenbach will host the 7th Annual Live and Free Fly celebration, benefitting The Austin Harmony Project. From 1 pm – 6 pm, some of Austin’s finest bands will be playing — including The Drakes, The Tejas Brothers, Walt Wilkins and the Mystiqueros, and Tina Mitchell Wilkins!
The Austin Harmony Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was founded in Austin in 2009, by Tressie Seegers. Their motto is “enriching the lives of the developmentally disabled through the power of art, music and community”.
The Harmony Project accomplishes this by conducting art and music sessions – five days a week – designed to help adult participants overcome physical, social, intellectual and emotional challenges that are associated with their disabilities, and by encouraging creative self-expression. The Project has been very successful, in that participants seem to flourish in programs where they are valued, cared for, and given the freedom to express themselves!
You can learn more about The Austin Harmony Project by going to their website at www.theaustinharmonyproject.org.
